Rossa Racing by Virage Sets the Pace on the Final Day of The Prologue

The second and final day of the two-day official preseason test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya saw the LMP2 Pro/Am entered no19 Rossa Racing by Virage Oreca-Gibson set the fastest time in the two sessions, with Rik Koen setting a 1m29.330 lap of the 4.657km circuit.

The Dutch driver's time was set in the 4-hour morning session and was six tenths slower than the best lap on Day 1 set by Jake Hughes in the no25 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca-Gibson.

The second fastest car on Day 2 was also an LMP2 Pro/Am car with the no3 DKR Engineering Oreca finishing the morning session 0.177s behind the lead car, with Marlon Hernandez setting the 1m29.507 lap, 0.141s ahead of the third fastest car, the no27 Nielsen Racing Oreca, which was also an LMP2 Pro/Am car. 

The fastest LMP2 car on Day 2 was the no28 IDEC Sport Oreca, which finished the day 4th fastest overall. Paul Loup Chatin set the lap time of 1m29.649s, just 0.001s behind the no27 Nielsen Racing and 0.033s ahead. Of the no30 Duqueine Team Oreca of Doriane Pin.

The fastest of the ten LMP3 entrants was the no86 R-ace GP Duqueine, with Hugo Schwarze setting a 1m37.324 lap in the 3-hour afternoon session, the fastest LMP3 lap of the two day test, eight tenths faster than the best time set on Day 1.

The second fastest LMP3 time was set in the morning session, with the no8 Team Virage posting the fastest class time of the session, with Daniel Nogales setting a 1m37.688 lap, which was also faster than the best lap from Day 1.

The no54 High Class Racing Porsche was the fastest of the 14 LMGT3 entries for the second day in a row.  Laurin Heinrich set the lap of 1m41.760, three tenths slower than his day 1 benchmark.  The no57 Kessel Racing Ferrari was second fastest on Day 2, with Mathys Jaubert lapping the Spanish track in 1m41.816, just 0.029s ahead of his teammate Fran Rueda in the no74 Kessel Racing Ferrari.

The next time the ELMS teams will be on track will be for Free Practice 1 for the 4 Hours of Barcelona on Friday 10 April

4 Hours of Barcelona

The 2026 European Le Mans Series will begin on Monday 6 April with The Prologue, the two-day official pre-season test.

The 4 Hours of Barcelona weekend begins on Friday 10 April with Free Practice 1 and the 30-minute Bronze Driver Collective Test.

On Saturday 11 April will feature the second 90-minute Free Practice session followed by qualifying for the 4 Hours of Barcelona. The 4 Hours of Barcelona takes place on Sunday 12 April, with the race due to start at 12h00 and the chequered flag waved four hours later at 16h00.
