The two leading cars for the overall ELMS crown, the no29 Forestier Racing by Panis and no22 United Autosports, were split by just 0.046s in the final Free Practice session ahead of qualifying for the 4 Hours of Portimao this afternoon.
Esteban Masson set a 1m31.913 in the no29 Oreca to head the timing screens, with Gregoire Saucy posting a 1m31.959. The two IDEC Sport Orecas were third and fourth with Job Van Uitert setting a 1m32.065 in the no28 Oreca, three tenths ahead of teammate Valerio Rinicella in the no18 car.
The LMP2 Pro/Am field was headed by the no21 United Autosports Oreca-Gibson, with Marino Sato setting a best lap of 1m32.921, which was just 0.071s faster than the no3 DKR Engineering of Marlon Hernandez. The no99 AO by TF was third quickest in the 90-minute session with a 1m33.024 set by Louis Deletraz.
The two leading championship contenders in LMP3 were also the top two in class in FP2. Reigning champions CLX Motorsport posted the fastest time of the session with Louis Iglesias lapping in 1m39.652, with the no85 R-ace GP Duqueine in second spot after Pierre-Alexandre Provost posted a 1m40.154.
The no57 Kessel Racing Ferrari was quickest in LMGT3, with Daniel Serra‘s lap of 1m42.579 exactly 0.1 seconds ahead of the no59 Racing Spirit of Leman Aston Martin of Valentin Hasse Clot. The no50 Richard Mille AF Corse Ferrari was third quickest with a 1m42.913, just 0.078s ahead of the no23 United Autosports McLaren.
Qualifying will take place at 16h15.
