FP1: Forestier Racing by Panis Quickest in First Imola Session

The first 90-minute Free Practice session of the 2026 4 Hours of Imola saw the 47 cars take to the track under blue skies and 30+ degree temperatures.  The fastest car was the no29 Forestier Racing by Panis Oreca-Gibson, with reigning champion Esteban Masson posting a 1m31.500 lap, nearly half a second faster than the nearest challenger.

The no25 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca was second fastest after Jake Hughes set a 1m32.029, 0.088s ahead of the no24 Nielsen Racing Oreca driven by Jack Doohan.

The fastest car in LMP2 Pro/Am was the no14 TDS Racing Oreca with the best lap of 1m32.314 by Scott Huffaker, which was good enough for 4th overall at the end of the Free Practice session.  The no20 APR Oreca was second quickest in class after Malthe Jakobsen set a 1m32.381.  Alex Quinn was third fastest in the no27 Nielsen Racing Oreca with a 1m32.483 lap.

The no4 DKR Engineering Ligier-Toyota was the quickest of the 10 LMP3 entries with Wyatt Brichacek lapping the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in 1m39.514, over half a second ahead of the no8 Team Virage Ligier of Matteo Quintarelli, who set a 1m40.058.  The race winning no13 Inter Europol Competition Ligier was third fastest, just 0.005s behind Quintarelli and 0.018s ahead of the no17 CLX Motorsport.

In LMGT3 the top six cars were filled by six different manufacturers, all covered by just 0.45 seconds at the end of the 90-minute session.

Racing Spirit of Leman set the pace, with Marius Fossard lapping the 4.909km circuit in 1m42.492 in the no59 Aston Martin Vantage, two tenths ahead of the no33 TF Sport Corvette of reigning champion Charlie Eastwood and Daniel Serra in the 4 Hours of Le Castellet winning no57 Kessel Racing Ferrari.

The no77 Proton Competition Porsche was 4th quickest in 1m42.854, just ahead of the no62 Team Qatar by Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG and the no23 United Autosports McLaren. 

The next time the cars will be on track will be for the Bronze Drivers session at 14h55, with FP2 taking place at 10h50 on Saturday morning.

The 4 Hours of Imola is Round 3 of the 2026 European Le Mans Series and takes place at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari on Sunday 5 July.
