What’s New for 2024?

A new season usually sees a number of changes and 2024 is no different, so here are some of the changes you will see when the 2024 European Le Mans Series gets underway in Barcelona this April.

LMGT3 will make ELMS debut.

Portimao saw the LMGTE era come to a close, with cars running to GT3 technical regulations eligible from 2024 onwards in both the ELMS and FIA WEC.

The colour of the number panels will be the same as they were for LMGTE (Pantone Orange 021C).

Mugello Replaces Motorland Aragon

Autodromo Internazionale del Mugellois a brand-new circuit on the ELMS calendar.Home of the Italian Motorcycle Grand Prix, Mugello is located in Tuscany 40km from Florence.

Tyre Specifications (Regulation 6.5.3)

LMGT3 will have one wet weather tyre specification this season compared to two specifications for LMGTE in 2023, bringing LMGT3 in line with the other three classes.LMGT3 teams will still have two specifications of dry weather tyres to choose from, the same as LMGTE last season.

Two Formation Laps (Regulation 11.2.7)

At all races in 2024 there will be two formation laps unless the conditions dictate that the Race Director or Clerk of the Course decides to ask the Leading Car to cover one or more additional formation laps.

Starting from the Pitlane Behind the Safety Car (Regulation 11.3.3)

Soon after the last car in line behind the Safety Car passes the end of the pit lane, the pit exit light will turn green; any car in the pit lane may then enter the track and join the line of cars behind the Safety Car. For the 2024 season, cars starting from the pitlane behind the Safety Car do not need to wait until the end of the first lap (as long as the pit exit light is green).
