FP2: Ready for Qualifying with Forestier Racing by Panis Fastest

Championship leaders Forestier Racing by Panis was the fastest car in the second and final Free Practice ahead of qualifying for the 4 Hours of Le Castellet. Esteban Masson was the only driver to set a sub 1 minute 50 second lap with the French driver setting a benchmark of 1m49.660, six tenths ahead of the rest of the field.

The no43 Inter Europol Competition Oreca was second fastest with Tom Dillmann lapping the Circuit Paul Ricard in 1m50.266, with the no37 CLX Motorsport Oreca in third just 0.029s behind and 0.040s ahead of the no34 Inter Europol Competition Oreca-Gibson.

The no30 Duqueine Team Oreca was the quickest of the 12 LMP2 Pro/Am competitors, with Doriane Pin setting the best lap of 1m50.605, which was good enough for 7th overall at the chequered flag.  The no83 AF Corse Oreca finished the session in second spot, just 0.019s behind with Antonio Fuoco setting a 1m50.624.

Reigning champions AO by TF were third quickest, with a 1m50.953 lap set by Jonny Edgar, with the 4 Hours of Barcelona winners Algarve Pro Racing fourth quickest.

R-ace GP headed the LMP3 field with Pierre-Alexandre provost setting a session best time of 2m00.441 in the no85 Duqueine-Toyota.  The M Racing Ligier was second quickest, with Thomas Imbourg lapping in 2m00.805 in the no68 Ligier, over 0.5 seconds ahead of the third fastest car, the race winning no5 Rinaldi Racing Ligier of Mikkel Gaarde Pedersen. 

The LMGT3 field saw the no57 Kessel Racing Ferrari at the top of the timing sheets once again, with Mathys Jaubert’s time of 2m02.986 just 0.087s faster than the no59 Racing Spirit of Leman Aston Martin Vantage of Valentin Hasse Clot.

David Perel was third quickest in the no55 Spirit of Race Ferrari, the South African driver posting a 2m03.445 lap time, 0.297s ahead of the no23 United Autosports McLaren 720S.
