The no29 Forestier Racing by Panis Oreca-Gibson was the fastest car in the first 90-minute Free Practice session of the final ELMS event of the 2026 season, the 4 Hours of Portimao. Esteban Masson posted the best lap, with a 1m32.646, just 0.085s ahead of championship points leaders United Autosports, with Gregoire Saucy setting a 1m32.731.
The top four cars overall were split by less than a tenth of a second, with the no25 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca finishing third fastest with Alex Lynn’s time of 1m32.735 being just 0.004s behind the no22 Oreca. Malthe Jakobsen set the fourth fastest lap of 1m32.737 in the no20 APR Oreca, which was just 0.002s behind his teammate and was also the best lap set in LMP2 Pro/Am.
The no3 DKR Engineering Oreca was second fastest in LMP2 Pro/Am and sixth fastest overall after Tristan Vautier posted a 1m32.309. The no47 CLX Motorsport Oreca was third fastest in class with a 1m33.256 set by Charles Milesi. The championship leading no83 AF Corse Oreca was 7th in class, while their nearest rivals in the no14 TDS Racing Oreca were 11th quickest in LMP2 Pro/Am.
The LMP3 field was headed by the no17 CLX Motorsport Ligier, the reigning champions and current championship leaders finishing the 90-minute session with a 1m39.197 set by Louis Iglesias. The no5 Rinaldi Racing Ligier was second quickest after Mikkel Gaarde Pedersen set a 1m39.807, with the no13 Inter Europol Competition and no11 Eurointernational Ligiers in 3rd and 4th places respectively. Championship contenders R-ace GP finished the session 7th in class with a 1m40.560 set by Pierre-Alexandre Provost.
The no57 Kessel Racing Ferrari was the quickest of the 14 strong LMGT3 field, with Daniel Serra posting the best lap of 1m42.737, just 0.159s ahead of the no23 United Autosports McLaren of Wayne Boyd. The no63 Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG was third quickest with a 1m42.994 set by Sergio Sette Camara, just 0.006s ahead of the no50 Richard Mille AF Corse Ferrari.
The championship leaders Team Qatar by Iron Lynx finished in 14th place, while their nearest rivals for the title, the no33 TF Sport Corvette, finished five places higher in 9th spot.
FP2 will take place at 10h15 on Friday 9 October.
