David Hallyday (Duqueine Engineering) – « Le Castellet is one of the most beautiful tracks in the world »

David Hallyday is now a familiar name around the race track. He is competing in ELMS this year at the wheel of the n°19 Duqueine Engineering Ligier JS P3 with Dino Lunardi and David Droux. The French team is now 2nd in the LMP3 classification and in Le Castellet they will have the opportunity to score some more points in their home race.

We are now at mid-season, what did you think about the first 3 races?

We had a difficult start where success wasn’t there.  We had some mechanical troubles in Silverstone and in Imola we had a fuel pump break down. But we are still in the fight for the championship; with a first podium in the Red Bull Ring we are 2nd in the classification which is quite good! Even if it’s a young team, it is really good and we are improving quickly. The team is just 2 years old and it’s its first year with a prototype, so I have big hopes concerning the success of the team.

What do you think about the Paul Ricard track?

Le Castellet is one of the most beautiful tracks in the world I think. It’s really technical and quick, I really like this track. It’s also in one of the best regions of the world! I look forward to go there next week.

What are your expectations for the 4th round?

They are simple and complicated at the same time! I wish we could have a perfect and quick race with no mistakes in order to be as close as possible to the leaders of the championship in the LMP3 class.

What do think about the competition in the championship this season?

The competition has always been really good in ELMS, this year we have the LMP3 class which is, I think, the most competitive and has a really high level. Several teams are used to endurance and prototypes and they were really strong at the beginning of the season, this is why the level is so high. ELMS had a big improvement this year with more and more cars on track, I think now it’s one of the best endurance championships in the world.
