24 Hours of Le Mans: the ELMS drivers reactions
24/08/2021

François Perrodo – n°83 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE EVO

"I'm tired, but happy; We won with 90 seconds to spare after a real battle with the #33 Aston Martin. It was difficult at times and lots of cars went off due to the conditions. We managed to gain the upper hand. Nicklas and Alessio were great at night, which is always tricky so I left the pros do their job. I feel like I'm dreaming."

Yifei Ye – n°41 Orlen Team WRT Oreca 07

“It was an eventful race, I was leading the dream until the dream broke apart… It was a long race, with Louis and Robert, we took good care of the car, and made it to the top a couple of hours from the end, when I was at the wheel. I was as nice to the car as you can be, avoiding the kerbs, just focusing on bringing it home, but sometimes it is not meant to be… I don’t know what happened, everything stopped… I feel sorry for everybody in the team, everyone has done a wonderful job. Congratulations to our team mates and now let’s look ahead, we still have an ELMS campaign to focus on…”

Phil Hanson – n°22 United Autosports Oreca 07 :

“Obviously it's a huge shame to drop out of contention the way we did with an issue. It's difficult because we also see what can happen to WRT, losing the race on the last lap, so it puts into perspective how cruel Le Mans is and that also probably plays into why it’s so special. We took a hit in the championship but luckily we built a buffer beforehand so I'm confident we can get back to the top. It’s never nice when you lose a race like this, because I think we had a really strong chance to win but I'm sure there's five or six cars that felt the same.”

The next race for the ELMS teams and drivers will be next month, on the 18th and 19th September with the 4 Hours of Spa.
