24 Hours of Le Mans : 4 ELMS teams qualified for the Hyperpole

The qualifying session of the 89th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is over and 4 ELMS teams are on top of the timing sheet of the LMP2 class and then qualified for the Hyperpole that will take place tomorrow from 21h to 21h30.

As a reminder, only the 6 quickest cars of each category are selected for the Hyperople.

The n°38 JOTA is first of the session with a lap in 3:28.807 (Antonio Felix Da Costa) of the 13,6km track.

The first ELMS car qualified for the Hyperpole is the n°26 G-Drive Racing Oreca 07 driven by Nyck de Vries, who was just crowned FIA Formula E World Champion. The Dutch driver set a lap in 3:29.246. Right behind is the n°41 Team WRT Oreca 07 of Louis Deletraz (3:29.441). The Belgian team had a great start to its French week for its debut to the 24 Hours Le Mans. This good result might also give the team an extra boost of confidence for the next few days.

In fourth are the 4 Hours of Monza winners, Panis Racing. Will Stevens, at the wheel of the n°65 Oreca 07 did a lap in 3:29.508.

Finally, the last ELMS cars qualified for the Hyperpole and fifth of the class is the n°32 United Autosports Oreca of Nicolas Jamin with a lap in 3:29.688.

The session was interrupted by a full course yellow to recover the n°48 Idec Sport from the gravel after Paul Loup Chatin went out on the barrier.

The cars will be back on track tonight from 22h for the second free practices, the first by night.
