It was a successful weekend at the Rolex 24 at Daytona with six ELMS champions and one team taking a podium finishing position in Florida.
2020 ELMS Champion Filipe Albuquerque finished second overall alongside Ricky Taylor Alexander Rossi and Will Stevens in the DPi class no10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05.The car crossed the finish line after completing 761 laps, just 3.028s behind the no60 Acura of Oliver Jarvis, Tom Blomqvist, Helio Castroneves and Simon Pagenaud.
The LMP2 class was won by ELMS regulars DragonSpeed USA, the American team, which has won two ELMS races at Le Castellet in 2019 and Spa in 2016, finished 7.089s ahead of the no29 Racing Team Nederland Oreca of former ELMS Champion Giedo Van Der Garde, Frits Van Eerd, Rinus VeeKay and Dylan Murray.
Reigning LMP2 ELMS Champion Louis Deletraz finished 3rdin the no8 Tower Motorsport Oreca just 11.577s behind the winning car after 751 laps and stood on the last step of the podium alongside 2018 LMP3 Champion John Farano, 2021 LMP2 Pro-Am Champion Rui Andrade and 24 Hours of Le Mans LMP2 winner Ferdinand Habsburg.
2019 ELMS LMGTE Champion Alessandro Pier Guidi finished second in the GTD Pro class, taking the chequered flag 2.1 seconds behind the winning car in the no62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 to stand on the second step of the podium alongside James Calado, Davide Rigon and Daniel Serra.
