In Memory of Marc van der Straten

Marc van der Straten was a formidable character in the world of motorsport, and his love of everything on four and two wheels saw him form his own team, winning three Moto2 titles, the 24 Hours of Spa and the LMGTE class at the 2015 4 Hours of Estoril.

Marc returned to the ELMS paddock in 2025, joining forces with Olivier Panis to form VDS Panis Racing, resulting in the European Le Mans Series title for the team and drivers Charles Milesi, Esteban Masson and Oliver Gray.

Marc passed away on Sunday 5th July at his home at the age of 78.

Marc was passionate about motor racing and as a team owner he won championships on both four and two wheels. Last season he was part of the VDS Panis Racing effort that saw the team and drivers crowned as ELMS LPM2 Champions. His passion for the sport will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure to meet him and on behalf of the ELMS paddock, we send our condolences to the Van Der Straten family, friends and loved ones.”
