The 2024 European Le Mans Series will welcome teams running cars to GT3 regulations for the first time since 2015.
The 2015 ELMS GTC champions were TDS Racing with a BMW Z4 GT3, with Dino Lunardi, Eric Dermont and Franck Perera winning the driver’s title. The following season the Michelin Le Mans Cup was launched for GT3 cars, and the ELMS was contested by cars in LMP2, LMP3 and LMGTE.
In 2024 the new LMGT3 class will replace LMGTE, with 11 cars entered representing four different manufacturers – Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche.
There will be two Aston Martin Vantage LMGT3s, run by Racing Spirit of Leman and Grid Motorsport by TF.
There will be six Ferrari 296 LMGT3s, run by Formula Racing, AF Corse, Spirit of Race, Kessel Racing, JMW Motorsport and GR Racing.
The two Porsche 911 GT3 R LMGT3s will be run by reigning LMGTE Champions Proton Competition and Iron Dames, while Iron Lynx will run the single Lamborghini Huracan LMGT3 Evo2 on the 2024 grid.
Each of the four types of GT3 cars have different engine layouts based on the road car, with front and mid-engine, turbo and non turbo and six, eight or even ten cylinders.
Power and weight will be subject to Balance of Performance calculations throughout the season to keep the competition as close as possible.
