The 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans will be Krohn Racing’s Tracy Krohn and Niclas Jönsson eleventh consecutive race at La Sarthe together, a record in the recent history of the world famous. The European Le Mans Series competitors will be joined by Portugal’s Joao Barbosa for the second year running.
We caught up Nic Jönsson ahead of the first day of track action at Le Mans to ask him which was his favourite event of the eleven he has shared with Tracy Krohn.
“Well the first is always special isn’t it when you get to come here and be part of one of the biggest sporting events in the world, it was certainly the most exciting to start with. Getting on the podium for the first time in ’07 was also a high note. To be able to do this eleven times back to back is fantastic. Thanks to Tracy for enabling me to be able to do that. You always learn something new every year.
“This will be our second year in a prototype after nine times with a GT car. It’s very different and you don’t need to look in the rear view mirror so often. Apart from the LMP1 cars you can look ahead and try to pass the slower traffic. All together it is a fantastic opportunity and I’m very happy to be back here once again.”
