The 2022 European Le Mans Series saw twelve full season entries in LMGTE, with three automatic invitations to the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans to be won. There were 8 teams and 44 drivers competing in the six races, representing 23 different nations.
The LMGTE competitors completed 6993 racing laps or 37,812.47 kilometres.
Six different crews stood on the top step of the podium in each of the six races in 2022 – #32 Rinaldi Racing, #69 Oman Racing with TF Sport, #60 Iron Lynx, #77 Proton Competition, #57 Kessel Racing and #83 Iron Lynx - with five other crews standing on the podium at least once during the season.
Ferrari took four victories in 2022 compared to one each for Aston Martin and Porsche.
Mikkel Jensen made ELMS history by becoming the first driver to win a race in each of the ELMS classes.The 2019 LMP3 Champion won in the #57 Kessel Racing Ferrari in Spa-Francorchamps adding to his wins in LMP3 and LMP2 in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
The crew of the #83 Iron Lynx Ferrari also made ELMS history by becoming the first all-female crew to win an ELMS race when Sarah Bovy, Michelle Gatting and Doriane Pin stood on the top step of the LMGTE podium at the end of the 4 Hours of Portimão.There was also a first pole position for a female driver when Sarah Bovy took pole position for the 4 Hours of Portimão.
Two new LMGTE lap records were established in 2022 with Henrique Chaves setting the fastest lap during the 4 Hours of Imola in the #95 Oman Racing with TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage AMR.Doriane Pin also set a new lap record at Spa-Francorchamps in the #83 Iron Lynx Ferrari 488 GTE EVO.
