2016 ELMS Season Gets Underway with Free Practice at Silverstone

The first session of the 2016 season got underway at Silverstone on a wet track and grey skies. At the end of the 90 minute practice session the no46 Thiriet by TDS Racing Oreca was the quickest car on track with a 2m08.679 lap, 0.5 seconds faster than the no41 Greaves Motorsport Ligier and the no32 SMP Racing BR01 in third, 0.1 seconds further adrift of the fastest LMP2 time.

The no19 Duqueine Engineering Ligier was the quickest of the 19 LMP3 competitors with a 2m13.329 lap, 0.49 seconds ahead of the no2 United Autosports Ligier JS P3 and 1.5 seconds ahead of the third quickest car, the no10 Graff Ligier.

The no99 Aston Martin Racing Vantage V8 was the fastest in LMGTE, the Aston Martin posting a 2m21.752 lap, 0.32 seconds ahead of the no77 Proton Competition Porsche 911 RSR 991 and 0.378 seconds ahead of the no96 Aston Martin.

The second 90-minute session of the day will start at 14h45 this afternoon.
