Let us entertain you!

Let us entertain you!
17/04/2016

There will be plenty of entertainments on offer for visitors to the 6 Hours of Silverstone, and not just those of the racing and automotive variety on-track.

At the Fan Zone located opposite the Wing, race fans of all ages can sample a wide range of activities, from roller-blading to rock climbing, quad biking and mini-golf, or even take a ride in a tethered hot air balloon to get a unique view of the circuit.

There will also be opportunities to watch PopbangColour artist Ian Cook at work, take in trial riding demonstrations, test your credentials as the next Brendon Hartley or Sam Bird in a WEC simulator, view the latest offering from Aston Martin – the 440bhp GT8 – and peruse merchandise stalls to show support to your favourite FIA World Endurance Championship teams.

Signatech fan Jonathon travelled down from Wales with partner Helen to be at the event for all three days. “I’ve followed Le Mans all my life and always been a bit of a ‘bobblehat’; I come to endurance racing every year and absolutely love it,” he said. “It’s great that you can get into the paddock, speak to the teams and speak to the drivers. There’s lots of fun activities to do and although we don’t have kids, this is certainly the thing we’d be looking for.”

“I’ve enjoyed walking round, the highlight so far has been the P1 cars and hearing the noise,” added Peter, from Silverstone village, who received tickets as a Christmas present from his brother. “I’ve got a Porsche myself so it’s good to see them in proper use, that’s always good!”

Should you fancy some indoor refreshment, then head down to Hall 01 inside the Wing building itself, where food and drinks can be purchased, children can have their faces painted or take in a movie on the giant monitor, test their reactions on a Batak wall or emulate the professionals at Scalextric.

“I like everything, it’s a great atmosphere,” said James from Bristol, who is camping at the circuit. “I’m just a motorsport fan, saw it advertised and thought let’s go and see it!”

Claire and 3-year-old son Matthew from Ipswich braved the snow on Saturday morning to see what all the fuss was about, and found both liked what they saw!

“I haven’t been before but my husband has been the last two years running,” she said. “I have really enjoyed it and would definitely come back.”
