Season review with Miguel Molina

LM GTE - 10/12/2018 - Sophie LIGER

Miguel Molina was driving this season with JMW Motorsport alongside Liam Griffin and Alex Macdowall. Thanks to two victories in Le Castellet and Silverstone they finished 2nd of the 2018 GTE classification with 88 points.

Can you sum up your 2018 season?

It has been a really good season for us. We had some great results with two victories but unfortunately, we had one DNF in the Red Bull Ring that prevent us from being in the top of the classification. In general, for me it was a really good experience with JMW Motorsport. I was a bit surprised about how accurate they are, the passion they put in everything they are doing so I’m happy about my year, the team and at the end it was a really good season.

As the platinium driver of your line-up, what advice did you give to your teammates?

I always try to be open and ready to help my teammates to improve. As we all know in this championship the most important part is done by the Bronze drivers. With Liam (Griffin) since the beginning of the season we talked a lot, he was really opened to get some advice, and to improve all the time. In general, I think we did a good job all together and all the results were done by all of us so it’s positive.

Best memories of 2018?

I have two good memories. For sure Paul Ricard as it was the first race of the season, winning on the last lap with a good battle with Matteo (Cairoli – Porsche n°88 – Proton Competition). I think it was one of the highlights of my season.

Silverstone as well is a good memory. It was the home race for the team and my teammates. The victory at Silverstone was probably the most emotional because it was the home of the team and we had again a close battle with Matteo.

What are your plans for 2019?

We will see what’s going on. For sure I have a long-term contract with Ferrari, so everything will depend of them. I’d like to come back in European Le Mans Series because I really like it. Last year I was doing the WEC and it’s similar except that we only race in Europe. I also liked the car this season, the GTE so if I can I will try to come back in this championship.
