LM GTE - 28/02/2019 - Sophie LIGER
Project 1, previously called Tolimit Motorsport, was created in 1993. It quickly became one of the major players in the Porsche race series: the team won the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany no less than seven times (1998/1999/2005/2007/2011/2012/2015).
In 2013 the team was renamed Project 1 and entered four cars in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and three in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
2015 was one of the most successful seasons for Project 1, winning the team and driver titles in both the Porsche Carrera Cup and Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. The team also won two rookie titles with Alex Toril in the Carrera Cup and Matteo Cairoli in the Supercup. These two drivers are now well known in Endurance, with Toril winning the 2017 Michelin Le Mans Cup title and Cairoli as an ELMS race winner and partner to the 2018 ELMS LMGTE champions Gianluca and Giorgio Roda.
In 2018, Project 1 took a major step by entering the FIA WEC Super Season for the first time. With one win in the 6 Hours of Fuji and two podiums (2nd in Shanghai and 3rd in Silverstone), the team is now heading to Sebring as the leader of the LMGTE Am class with 84 points.
2019 will mark a new chapter for the German team that will run its #56 Porsche 911 RSR in the very competitive LMGTE field of the European Le Mans Series with former Michelin Le Mans Cup racer and current FIA WEC Championship leader Egidio Perfetti at the wheel.
