Drivers' reactions after the 4 Hours of Le Castellet

ELMS - 17/04/2018 - Sophie LIGER

Timothé Buret - Panis Barthez Compétition - n°23 Ligier JS P2:

"I was very happy to start the race and the car was really efficient, I felt comfortable with it, able to push at the entrance of the corners and with ease to get out easily. This allowed me to have a good pace all the way to get back on the leading pack and be 3rd after a good fight with Thiriet. The team set up the car very well for the qualifying session and the race. It's a shame not to be rewarded because of this puncture which penalized us in the final classification. I am really satisfied with great technical performance. We gained a little more experience, especially under the rain at the beginning of week. We are able to fight at the front this season!"

Loïc Duval - TDS Racing - n°33 Oreca 07:

"This first race was a very positive experience for all of us. We always have some points to improve of course, but I can only say that François did a great job. Starting the race with much more experimented Gold or Platinium drivers is not easy and he handled it very well in the end. As I was in the car I managed to get back to 5th position. Of course the Safety Car did help a little, but as the race re-started, I was at the back of the LMP2 field and to pass all the competitors was not easy, but the car felt very good and Matthieu finished the job to take the car to the second place. To me, it's a very good start for the team and we will continue to work that way, not forgetting that the competition is very high in LMP2. The most important thing in endurance racing is to not make any mistake, and we did not make any this weekend. Our aim is to continue this way."

Phil Hanson - United Autosports - Ligier JS P217 n°22:

"Unfortunately I had contact with another LMP2 car early in the race. I was on the inside so as far as I’m concerned it was my corner. It caused a puncture and also damaged the exhaust which effected the power. We had to run on a different engine map due to the damage, meaning we were down on power for all but the first 15 minutes of the race. So everything considered, our pace was incredibly strong.”

Garett Grist - United Autosport - Ligier JS P3 n°3:

"I learned a lot on my ELMS début. My pace improved towards the end of my stint. It took me time to get used to full fuel and old tyres. It also took me a while to acclimatise to the P3 traffic in amongst the GT cars. But I also believe we’re missing overall pace, even compared to our pre-season testing.”
