Track is open
Start of practice, qualifying or race. Also used for race restart after caution (yellow flag) and red flag periods.
Caution. Drivers must slow down, no overtaking allowed. Also signals the presence of the safety car on the race track.
Double yellow flags
Signals a hazard in the following sector where the track is partially or totally obstructed. Drivers must be ready to change direction or to stop.
Yellow flag + SC board
The safety car is on track. Drivers must moderate their speed and run in line behind the safety car. Passing is not allowed anywhere on the circuit.
A faster competitor is about to overtake.
Yellow flag with red stripes
Signals the presence of oil or water on the race track.
You are catching up with a much slower vehicle.
Immediate race stop, cars must come back to the pits at slow pace. No overtaking allowed.
Black and white flag
Last warning before exclusion from the race for non sporting driving.
The black flag and the number of a specific car, shown in white on a black background, means that the driver must stop at his pit. This flag is shown for four consecutive laps.
Black flag with yellow disk
Notifies a driver to leave the race track immediately because of a mechanical problem he is unaware of (a leak for example). Must be shown with the car’s race number.
