The first two hours of the final race of the 2017 European Le Mans Series season has seen some great on track battles in all three classes as the title contenders fight for the glory in Portugal.

In LMP2 the no22 G-Drive Racing Oreca needs to finish 6th or higher to guarantee the titles. Their only rival is the no32 United Autosports Ligier and Hugo de Sadeleer has taken the fight in the first two hours to the Russian team by leading at the two hour point. The no22 Oreca of Leo Roussel is 44 seconds behind the leading car and is currently in a championship winning position.

In LMP3 the no18 M.Racing YMR Ligier has to win for the first time in 2017 to be in with a chance of taking the title from the championship leading no2 United Autosport Ligier.  At the top of the second hour the class was being led by the no9 AT Racing Ligier of Alexander Talkanitsa thanks to a great stint behind the wheel by Mikkel Jensen. The no2 United Autsoports Ligier of Sean Rayhall was lying in second place, the American fighting his way up from the back of the grid, just ahead f the no18 Ligier of Romano Ricci.

The battle for the honours in the LMGTE class is intense and too close to call with just 10 points separating the top three contenders, the no90 TF Sport Aston Martin (87 pts), the no66 JMW Motorsport Ferrari (86 pts) and the no55 Spirit of Race Ferrari (77 points). At the end of first half it was the no66 JMW Motorsport Ferrari of Will Stevens out in front ahead of the no55 Spirit of Race Ferrari of Aaron Scott and the no77 Proton Competition Porsche.
